Orquidea Lodge

The Orquidea Lodge is situated on the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula in the town of Santa Teresa. The Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve is 8 km away, offering visitors excellent hiking and exploring, while the beaches of Santa Teresa – famed as some of the best surf spots in the area – are within walking distance.

Due to Santa Teresa’s beauty and vibrant surf scene, the word is out, and people from all over the world are flocking to the town. Fittingly, some never leave. With these people stay the customs and specialties of their homeland, which visitors can see peppered throughout the town in the restaurants and hotels. Travelers who visit Santa Teresa with a surfboard will be well entertained, as this area has some of the best year-round surfing in all of Costa Rica. If gear or skill is a problem, the town has a number of surf shops that can rent equipment and offer lessons. Still, you don’t need to be a surfer to have a good time here. The beach that meets the waves is a broad strip of sand bordered by dense forest – a brilliant place for beach bumming or cooling off in the shade of a tree. Additionally, there are fishing tours and yoga classes, kite surfing and ATV rides, horseback riding and boat trips at sunset. The tranquil fishing village of Mal Pais borders Santa Teresa to the south, offering up more beaches and some excellent fishing opportunities.

The Orquidea Lodge is perfect for couples or small groups. There are a variety of accommodations available, all of which are spacious, clean, and comfortable. The apartment building is several stories high, and lined with a spiral staircase, large windows, and red-tile roofs. Plants fringe the accommodations, adding a bit of the jungle into the lodge’s environment. Each unit is air-conditioned and equipped with a full kitchen, living room, dining area, and bathroom. The bedrooms are designed with teak wood and private terraces that look out onto the hotel’s garden. Occasionally, freshly made beds are sprinkled with rose petals by the lodge’s cleaning staff. For in-suite entertainment, guests are invited to use the cable TV, DVD player, or wireless internet. Outdoor hammocks hang in private patios next to chairs and tables, offering guests the ultimate spot for lounging with drinks or a good read. The lodge’s central location – only 200 meters from the beach and close to markets, restaurants and shops – allows its guests easy access to activities in the Santa Teresa area. If visitors need assistance with organizing tours or events, the lodge’s helpful and attentive staff is glad to help.
