Santa Teresa Hotels and Lodging
Until the 1970s, Santa Teresa was a small fishing village that received relatively few visitors. As word got out about its incredible surfing, the town saw an increasing number of international travelers flock to its shores. Many of these people — hailing from places like Germany, Italy and South America — decided to stay and open up businesses. Today, Santa Teresa is the largest village in the area and has a distinctly international feel. Visitors can expect delicious and varied cuisine, artisan shops, and a good range of tour options. It also has banks (with ATMs), doctors, and car rentals. It is situated just north of Malpaís.
There is a diverse grouping of hotels in Santa Teresa. Although unpretentious accommodations continue to abound, the recent surge in development has seen several upscale options and boutique hotels pop up. Polished wood floors and expansive windows decorate the interior of many rooms, while the outdoor areas are often bountiful with tropical plants and flowers. Many hotels have restaurants set beneath palm-thatched ranchos with swimming pools or Jacuzzis located nearby. Several offer individual bungalows or apartments that include a kitchen and dining area — a perfect option for couples or travelers on extended stays. Wireless internet, free breakfast and bike/surfboard rentals are increasingly becoming the norm.
