Couples and small families who want to be close to the beach and like having a kitchenette. It’s a quiet, garden-style place rather than a full-service resort, so you’ll head into town for most meals.

Esencia is on Santa Teresa Beach, just a few steps from the sand. Restaurants are close by in town; there isn’t one on site.
What the rooms are like
The villas sit in a leafy tropical garden, linked by a wide gravel path. Each has a covered porch looking out onto flowers and trees, a kitchenette and dining area, air conditioning and a private hot-water bathroom, just what you want after a long beach day.

- Open Space Villa: one bedroom, for up to three people.
- Two Bedrooms Villa: two bedrooms, for up to four people.
- Pool View Room: a room for two, with a coffee maker, fridge and air conditioning.
There are ten villas and eight pool-view rooms in all.

The large free-form pool is ringed by trees, with lounge chairs for an afternoon in the sun. Wi-Fi is free across the hotel.

Getting here
Santa Teresa is at the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula, a long way from either international airport. With an Anywhere private transfer, English-speaking, credentialed drivers meet you at arrivals with a name sign and bring you here in a modern air-conditioned van.
