Hotel Pachamama

From: $0 USD

Pachamama is a goddess revered by the indigenous people of the Andres as “Mother Earth.” Appropriately, this hotel is set less than a mile from the Cabo Blanco National Park and only 150 feet from the beach at Malpaís. Surrounded by tropical gardens and close to the area’s attractions, Pachamama provides guests with unbeatable access to the Costa Rican outdoors.

Hotel Pachamama

The Pachamama Hotel consists of three bungalows and two houses. These accommodations are set amidst a property where large, colorful plants reach across gravel paths and stretch onto balconies. Not surprisingly, guests will have the opportunity to spot birds, lizards and even monkeys from the comfort of their very own deck.

The bungalows are especially nice because they’re equipped with kitchens and hot water bathrooms. The former allows guests to buy fresh food from the local market and cook it at home, while the latter will have them clean and content after a day in the sand. In addition to these amenities, all the bungalows have a fan and safe deposit box as well as access to outdoor living space. The two bottom floor bungalows share a terrace, while the top floor bungalow has its own. All of the terraces are covered and decked out with hammocks, tables and chairs. All bungalows have a queen size bed that’s covered with a mosquito net—a feature that’s especially necessary considering the amount of insects roaming in the jungle outside.

The two homes offer some of the same amenities but on a larger scale—they each have two bedrooms and can sleep four people. The so-called “Pachamama House” has both a master and guest bedroom. The master bedroom is set on the second floor and is equipped with a king size bed (w/mosquito net), fan, and private balcony. The first floor bedroom has a queen size bed (w/mosquito net) and fan. The rest of the house is privileged with air conditioning and includes a fully equipped kitchen. Guests of this home will undoubtedly enjoy spending time at the outdoor social area. This covered patio has a ceiling fan, dining room table, chairs, and benches. There’s even an impressive BBQ for grilling up local fish, meat and veggies. The other home is similar but lacks the outdoor living space of the Pachamama House.

The owner of the hotel is an experienced kite surfer. He offers lessons – both for kiteboarding and surfing – to guests and rents surfboards as well.
